Spotlight Series: The Sixth Annual Women to Watch Awards

March 30, 2012

I can’t believe the Women to Watch Awards is only 5 weeks away! Excitement is starting to build and tickets sales just opened!

Starting this week, we are going to have a blog series spotlighting this year’s honorees and speakers. Their stories may vary, but they share many traits in common. As you will read in the coming weeks, they are willing to step up, take responsibilities, face challenges and overcome adversities. They lead by example and we are honored to have the opportunity to share their narratives.

This year, Running Start is pleased to honor the following women:

Representative Gabrielle Giffords, U.S. House of Representatives from 2007 to 2012 (AZ-08)

Ambassador Capricia Penavic Marshall, Chief of Protocol of the United States

Representative Martha Roby, U.S. House of Representatives (AL-02)

Taryn Davis, Founder and Executive Director, American Widow Project

Natalie Randolph, Varsity Football Coach, Coolidge High School

Rocio Ortega, Student Activist

The Women to Watch Awards is part of Running Start’s efforts inspire young women across the nation to lead. The annual event, held each spring at Washington DC, honors some of the most impressive young women leaders in politics and other professions.

See you there!
