Tasha Cole is a relationship builder who enjoys working with organizations and individuals to advance efforts to improve our communities. From raising money for college scholarships and internships for young people, to pushing for adequate staffing levels for nursing home workers, Tasha has opened doors of opportunities and changed the status quo.
Tasha currently works as the Vice President of Resource Development for the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation one of the nation’s leading nonpartisan, nonprofit public policy research and education institutes. Tasha’s hard work and exposure to national politics has translated into a valued network of activists, coalition groups, corporate executives, community leaders, newsmakers, and elected officials at every level of government.
She also has a broad knowledge of congressional and third-party organizations and operations and is president of TLC Strategies, a consulting practice providing Congressional Affairs and integrated communications expertise to organizations and coalitions including Protecting Our Vote PAC and a documentary project on the life of Congressman John Lewis.
An Emmy award winning television journalist with a Bachelor of Science degree in broadcast journalism from Florida A&M University, Tasha is the proud recipient of numerous honors, including the Grand Prize in Florida Bar Media Awards and the Women in Communications Rising Star Award.
Tasha transitioned her communications background into a career in politics and fundraising as constituency outreach director with the state Democratic Party in Florida, she has worked on a number of statewide and presidential campaigns, statewide ballot initiatives and three national Democratic conventions, including most recently as the director of political affairs for the 2008 Democratic Convention in Denver, Colorado.
In 2011, Tasha served as Chief of Staff to U.S. Representative Frederica Wilson from Florida’s 17th Congressional District and began working on behalf of the District as the Communications Director and eventually Senior Advisor for Congresswoman Wilson’s predecessor, former Congressman Kendrick Meek. In both capacities she was responsible for the execution of events, meetings, workshops, seminars and programs to advance the legislative, community and political priorities of the 17th Congressional District, the Member and the office.
Currently Tasha serves on the Board of Directors for Running Start, a national organization whose mission and vision is to engage young women in politics. And she is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc, the DC/Maryland/Virginia FAMU Alumni Association and the Florida State Society.
